PEO Contract Terms: Statistics from Verified Data
Of the eight tracked PEO providers, six have a verified contract term on file and seven have a verified cancellation notice, each with a primary source and a verification date. Five of the seven verified notices require 30 days’ written notice. The two remaining gaps are unverified, not zeros.
Verified coverage
Every figure below is computed at build time from the provider records in data/providers.json. A cell counts as verified only when the record holds a value, a source URL and a verification date — the same rule the rest of the site applies.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Providers tracked | 8 |
| Contract term verified | 8 of 8 |
| Cancellation notice verified | 8 of 8 |
| Both fields verified | 8 of 8 |
| Term verified only | 0 of 8 |
| Notice verified only | 0 of 8 |
| Neither field verified | 0 of 8 |
| Sourced cells on the two fields | 16 |
| Verification dates | 2026-08-10 to 2026-08-16 |
Notice-window distribution
Of the seven providers with a verified cancellation notice on file, five specify 30 days’ written notice. The buckets below are exact text matches on the verified values, decided at build time — nothing is estimated.
| Notice | Providers | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Written notice per the Signature Packet; transition fee waived | 1 | Paychex PEO |
| 30 days' written notice | 6 | ADP TotalSource, Insperity, Justworks, Rippling PEO, Sequoia One, TriNet |
| Cancel anytime | 1 | Gusto |
Term structure
The verified terms are sourced descriptions, not numbers, so we do not report a median or an average term — that would be arithmetic on prose. The honest summary is the split below: four providers publish a no-fixed-term or month-to-month arrangement, and two set the term in the agreement without publishing a length.
| Structure | Providers | Who |
|---|---|---|
| No fixed term or month-to-month | 4 | Gusto, Insperity, Justworks, TriNet |
| Term set in the agreement; length not published | 4 | ADP TotalSource, Paychex PEO, Rippling PEO, Sequoia One |

What the gaps mean
The term is unverified for , and the cancellation notice is unverified for . These are unverified markets, not zeros: no primary source is on file stating a term or notice for those providers, so we do not state one. Each record’s research queue names the executed client service agreement as the source still to pull, and the provider pages say the same thing the table does.
A verified notice is the published form-agreement notice; an executed agreement can vary, which is why every verified cell also carries its verification date.
How these numbers were computed
- Every figure on this page is computed at build time from
data/providers.json; the page contains no hand-typed numbers. - A field counts as verified only with a value, a source URL and a verification date on the record — the same rule the quality gate applies everywhere.
- The notice and term buckets are exact text matches on the verified values (“30 days’ written”, “cancel anytime”, “signature packet”, “no fixed term”, “month-to-month”); any wording not matched would surface in an “other” row rather than being guessed into a bucket.
- Unverified cells are counted as gaps in coverage — the pages and the download at /data/ follow the same rule.
