No. Georgia does not have a separate PEO registration or licensing statute. However, under O.C.G.A. 34-8-172, PEOs must either post a $10,000 bond or maintain a surety equal to 2.7% of their total taxable payroll for workers' compensation purposes.
What is Georgia's unemployment insurance (SUI) taxable wage base?
Georgia's SUI taxable wage base is $9,500 per employee. The new employer rate is 2.70%.
Is workers' compensation mandatory in Georgia?
Yes. Georgia requires workers' compensation coverage for employers with three or more employees. Coverage is available through private carriers; Georgia does not operate a state fund.
What is the minimum wage in Georgia?
Georgia's state basic minimum wage is $5.15 per hour for employers of six or more employees, but employers subject to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act must pay the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour.
