Does Florida require PEOs to register with the state?

Yes. Florida requires PEO registration under Chapter 468, Part XI of the Florida Statutes. PEOs must demonstrate a minimum net worth of $50,000, obtain letters of credit, and renew biennially through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

What is Florida's unemployment insurance (SUI) taxable wage base?

Florida's SUI taxable wage base is $7,000 per employee. The new employer rate is 2.7%.

Is workers' compensation mandatory in Florida?

Yes. Florida requires workers' compensation insurance for employers in construction with one or more employees and in non-construction with four or more employees. Coverage is available through private carriers or approved self-insurance (F.S. 440.38); there is no state fund.

What is the minimum wage in Florida?

Florida's minimum wage is $14.00 per hour until September 29, 2026, rising to $15.00 on September 30, 2026 (Art. X, Sec. 24, Fla. Const. as amended by the 2020 minimum wage amendment). From September 30, 2027, the rate adjusts annually for inflation (CPI-W).

Does Florida require paid sick or family leave?

No. Florida has no statewide paid sick leave or paid family leave mandate. Paid leave benefits are at employer discretion.
